Uzbekspace at IAC 2025

A Fusion of Space, Culture and Design at IAC 2025
THE CHALLENGE
For the International Astronautical Congress (IAC 2025), DisplayWise was appointed as the preferred custom stand builder and approached by The Space Research and Technology Agency under the Ministry of Digital Technologies of the Republic of Uzbekistan (Uzcosmos).
Uzcosmos provided a detailed brief and design concept to DisplayWise with a clear challenge to interpret this unique custom exhibition stand vision for the local market while staying true to the aesthetics and cultural significance of Uzbekistan.
Yet, the stand needed to be more than a display, it had to communicate a dialogue between space and culture, blending tradition with modernity. The visitor intention was for everyone to truly feel the essence of Uzbekistan, a nation rich in cultural and scientific heritage, while experiencing a premium, immersive environment that encouraged conversation about space and the future.

THE SOLUTION
The architecture of Uzcosmos was a thoughtful contrast of futuristic geometry paired with soft, rounded elements and atmospheric lighting, all inspired by the traditions of Uzbek architecture. The combination of these elements would aim to create a space that felt premium, authentic, and inviting. Working with an international client also brought its own complexities, particularly in translating the design intent into locally sourced materials and construction methods. DisplayWise navigated this seamlessly through strong end-to-end project management and attentive client service.
Without compromising on premium craftsmanship or the authenticity of Uzbek culture, our design and production teams delivered a standout interpretation of the brief, featuring:
- Outer Contour & Roof Feature: Minimalist forms which were emphasised through a cantilevered timber canopy. This was finished with roller paint and enhanced by a perimeter of LED strips creating a “spaceship” effect with the fascia incorporating a night sky graphic.
- Columns & Beams: Crafted from natural wood, these structural elements drew inspiration from the historic cities of Bukhara and Khiva, reinforcing the link to Uzbek craftsmanship.
- Ceiling & Lighting: The night sky ceiling graphic was a matte and dark finish, intended to evoke a boundless space with branch-like LED structures integrated to mirror constellations and filling the space with a soft, ambient glow.
- Arches & Bases: Symmetrical arches featured built-in lighting and bases of traditional baked brick reminiscent of Samarkand architecture, referencing the Timurid era.
- Arched Niches: Styled after Bukhara madrasahs, these niches showcased ceramics, wood carvings, and other applied arts with gentle interior lighting, recessed LED uplighting, and hollow-lit perimeter graphics.
- Media Integration: Next-generation LED panels (2500mm x 1500mm) presented infographics and videos on Uzcosmos’ activities, merging science, technology, and cultural storytelling seamlessly with the stand’s design.
- Reception Counter: Custom 3D-printed outer shroud in matt white polypaint, with black acrylic logos and open shelving formed an important welcome point into the space

THE RESULT
The Uzcosmos custom exhibition stand exceeded client expectations, delivering a space that was visually striking while connecting advanced technology with cultural heritage. The stand also served as a powerful platform for UZCOSMOS to promote their ambition to host the next IAC in Uzbekistan — a bid that was successfully awarded following the show.
“We truly appreciate the professionalism and dedication your team demonstrated throughout the design and construction of our stand at IAC Sydney 2025.
The final result exceeded our expectations and played an important role in presenting Uzbekistan’s vision and capabilities — especially as we move forward towards hosting IAC 2028.
It was indeed a pleasure collaborating with your team, and we look forward to future opportunities to work together again.”
