CHALLENGE

The Department of Primary Industries approached DisplayWise with a brief to create a custom exhibition stand to promote sustainable fishing practices for the annual Sydney Royal Easter Show. Located in the Food Farm pavilion, the stand needed to be bright and interactive, and include experiences to engage the show’s three-to12-year-old visitors and their families.

solution

Having built three previous stands for the Department of Primary Industries, DisplayWise combined old school fun with interactive technology to create a “Fish for Life’ display space that was going to engage children and encourage learning. We worked with the client to design and build a stand that would withstand constant use over the show’s 13 days. Highlights of the stand included a hands-on ‘Tie the Knot’ activation which encouraged children to practice knot-tying with rope. They could also ‘catch a fish’ and measure its size using the FishSmart app to see if they could keep their catch

“Just wanted to say a big THANK YOU for being such a great crew to work with for our Royal Easter show display. We have had lots of positive feedback from all directions in the department and staff who worked on the stand said the feedback they had from the public was outstanding. The professionalism and positive attitude of your team make it a pleasure to work with you”

RESULT

Standing out in such a crowded space was always going to be a challenge, but our combination of graphics, bold colours and interactive elements on the stand drew in 5,000 young and excited visitors each day. Department of Primary Industries staff also handed out 15,000 junior fishing manuals and applied 21,000 “Fish on Show” tattoos. The activation was a huge success, with the ’Fish on Show’ stand also taking out the Gold Award for best display.
