THE CHALLENGE
DisplayWise skillfully crafted six exhibition stands for the AVALON23, Australian International Airshow, Aerospace and Defence Exposition. The biennial event, held at Geelong airport is one of Asia-Pacific’s most prestigious events and the largest aviation, aerospace and defence exposition in the southern hemisphere.
With over 248,000 attendees across six days, the event featured a captivating array of indoor and outdoor displays, thrilling civil and military flying performances, a dynamic conference program and extensive networking and promotional opportunities.
DisplayWise’s expertise and long-standing industry experience made them a natural choice as AMDA’s preferred custom stand builders for the show. The team successfully designed and constructed displays for prestigious clients such as the Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA), Defence Aviation Safety Authority (DASA), Toll Group, Spiro (representing Bell), KBR and Kiah.

THE Solution
In collaboration with the Australian Government’s Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA), DisplayWise designed two interconnected 6x6m spaces for CASA and DASA (Defence Aviation Safety Authority). The innovative design seamlessly integrated shared amenities including a spacious hospitality and welcome counter equipped with a coffee machine and bar fridge. Both sides of the stand utilised vibrant graphics and interactive touch screens to enhance engagement, while the inclusion of furniture and meeting tables encouraged visitors to spend more time at the stand. Additionally, the back section of the stand featured 1.5 x 6m storage areas accessible from each side, contributing to the overall cohesive and functional end result.
DisplayWise assisted valued client, KBR to maximise their presence at Avalon23 by implementing customised updates to their existing stand. The team successfully integrated KBR’s previously purchased and stored flooring, striking wall graphics and applied fresh paint to the 9x6m space. To further elevate the display, large hire screens, furniture and additional lighting were strategically incorporated, resulting in an impressive showcase.
Brand experience agency Spiro partnered with DisplayWise to create an outstanding 10×6 custom display for their client Bell. Impressive 4m high back walls supported an overhead beam structure for a hanging drone and a further 2 models were included on riser areas. Raised flooring with elegant light trim detail added visual appeal to the space, while eye-catching graphics attracted attendees. The clever use of two-toned carpeting subtly divided sections, resulting in a cohesive layout that flowed seamlessly. Additionally, the design included a custom refreshment area and reception counter equipped with lockable storage and LED trim to the kicker, adding both functionality and style to the exhibit. Completing the setup, hire furniture was thoughtfully provided for the meeting and workshop area, ensuring a comprehensive and engaging brand experience.
Toll Group maximised their floorspace at the show by utilising DisplayWise’s 6x3m Calacutta stand from the Premium Hire Range and customising it to suit the 6x6m area. To enhance the display further, 3m wall panels with full graphic prints, four extra screens and a branded L-shaped plinth were seamlessly incorporated into the stand. The combination of these elements resulted in an attention grabbing exhibit that effectively display Toll Group’s offerings.
Kiah successfully transformed their open-plan space into a captivating showcase of their brand by strategically combining custom and hire elements. The addition of a central counter, large screens and carefully displayed giveaways added to the overall appeal. The result was an engaging and modern display that captivated attendees and left a lasting impression.
